Caring for the Growing Needs of Our Community

Cleveland University-Kansas City Chiropractic Health Center

About Us

People across America and around the world utilize chiropractic care as part of their approach to staying healthy and active. Chiropractic care is highly effective for a number of common musculoskeletal conditions. In addition, doctors of chiropractic have the knowledge and skills to assist their patients who wish to improve their diet or begin an exercise program to improve their overall health.

Cleveland University-Kansas City has been a health care education leader in the metropolitan Kansas City area since 1922. Our state-of-the-art Chiropractic Health Center in Overland Park is one of the area’s best choices for quality, affordable chiropractic care.

Under the supervision of licensed, experienced doctors of chiropractic, our student interns provide patient care in the Health Center during their final year of study. After conducting an in-depth patient exam and assessing their condition, our interns consult with one of our staff doctors to prepare an appropriate treatment plan for each patient that is the most beneficial for their needs. This ensures that each patient receives the most appropriate and effective care for his or her specific condition.

Our Story

_sjs5267Cleveland University-Kansas City (CUKC) was founded in 1922 and graduated its first doctor of chiropractic in 1924. In the years since, the University has educated more than 7,000 Doctors of Chiropractic, and more than 1 in 10 chiropractors are Cleveland graduates. Today, Dr. Carl S. Cleveland III, the grandson of the founders, and a fourth generation chiropractor, is now president of CUKC.

As chiropractic — Greek for done by hand — moves into the 21st century, its practitioners continue to focus on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the spine, as well as other parts of the musculoskeletal system. These disorders may be the result of sports-related injuries, workplace injuries, car accidents or simply a sedentary lifestyle.

The relationship between structure, primarily the spine and musculoskeletal system, and function, as coordinated by the nervous system, is central to the profession’s approach to patient treatment, health and well-being. The core purpose of chiropractic practice and procedure is to relieve interference caused by disturbed joint biomechanics through skilled manual assessment and correction, termed spinal adjustment or manipulation. In addition, chiropractors embrace a belief in optimizing health through food nutrition, constructive exercise, stress management and a focus on the importance of good posture, as well as spinal and extremity biomechanics.

Providing quality chiropractic care and offering solutions for a better, more productive life for our patients is the goal of the Cleveland University-Kansas City Chiropractic Health Center. With more than 30,000 patient visits each year, it is at the center of a movement that chooses to prescribe a way of thinking instead of a bottle of pills. It is a belief anchored in the concept that good health comes from within.

Our People

_sjs6112In keeping with the vision held by the pioneers of the institution, student interns at the Cleveland University-Kansas City Chiropractic Health Center pursue a more natural course of health care for their patients, free from prescription medications.

Under the supervision of licensed and experienced doctors of chiropractic, our student interns provide patient care in the Health Center during their final year of study. With guidance from our staff doctors, they develop treatment plans for their patients to ensure that they receive the most up-to-date, effective and affordable care.

The interns aid in the restorative and maintenance process through a series of patient management options that include manual techniques for joint adjustment/manipulation, adjunctive therapies, rehabilitation exercises and/or suggestions regarding nutrition or daily maintenance to enhance the quality of life. It is a positive relationship that is beneficial for the interns and the community they serve.
